The Cisco SFP-10G-ER is a high-performance SFP+ transceiver module designed for 10GBASE-ER Ethernet links, specifically engineered for ultra-long-reach data transmission. It operates over standard single mode fiber (SMF) using a 1550nm cooled EML laser, enabling a transmission distance of up to 40 kilometers. This makes it an ideal solution for metropolitan area networks (MANs), large-scale campus backbones, and inter-data center connectivity.
The module is hot-swappable and features an LC duplex interface. It is fully compliant with IEEE 802.3ae, SFF-8431, and SFF-8472 standards. With integrated Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) support, network administrators can monitor real-time operating parameters such as optical output power, receiver sensitivity, and temperature to ensure optimal network stability over long distances.
