The Cisco GLC-LH-SMD is a 1000BASE-LX/LH SFP transceiver module designed for both single mode and multimode fiber. It operates at a wavelength of 1310nm and supports distances up to 10 km over single mode fiber (SMF) and up to 550 m over legacy multimode fiber (MMF). This module is hot-swappable and features an LC duplex interface for reliable fiber optic connectivity.
A key feature of the "D" version (SMD) is the support for Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM), which allows end-users to monitor real-time parameters such as optical output power, optical input power, temperature, and transceiver supply voltage. It is widely used in switches, routers, and other networking equipment for long-reach Ethernet uplinks.
