About Datwyler Fiber Optic Cleaning Tools

Reliable fiber connections require clean ferrules and end faces. Contamination from oils, dust, or fingerprints causes insertion loss and intermittent link failures that are difficult to diagnose after installation. Datwyler manufactures a complete range of cleaning tools for fiber optic connectors used in patch panels and direct mating applications.

Product Range

Reel cleaners: rotating fabric tape for LC, SC, FC, and ST ferrules. Each click advances clean tape for the next connection.

Stick cleaners: 1.25 mm and 2.5 mm formats for through adapter cleaning of single connectors without unmating from the patch panel.

MPO and MTP cleaners: through adapter cleaning tools designed for multi fiber rectangular ferrules.

Replacement tape: tape cartridges for high volume cleaning operations.

When to Use

Always clean both sides of a connection before mating. After any environmental exposure (open patch panel, dropped jumper, dusty data hall), inspect with a fiber scope at 200x or 400x and clean again. For mission critical links targeting 100G and 400G transceivers, follow the IEC 61300 3 35 cleanliness criteria.
