CommScope MPO and MTP cables are high density fiber optic assemblies used in data centers and enterprise networks where multiple fiber connections need to be terminated in a single ferrule. A standard MPO12 connector consolidates twelve fibers into one termination, while MPO24 carries twenty four fibers in the same footprint. How to Choose the Right MPO Cable
When selecting an MPO assembly check three properties. First, fiber count: 12 fiber for most 40G and 100G builds, 24 fiber for 400G or higher density patching. Second, polarity method: Type A keeps fibers straight through, Type B reverses them at one end, Type C flips fiber pairs. Mixing polarity types in one channel is the most common cause of optical link failures during commissioning. Third, pin configuration: the trunk end is unpinned and the fanout end is pinned, or both ends are unpinned with a separate pinned adapter at the patch panel.
All CommScope MPO assemblies are factory tested for insertion loss and return loss, with test reports available on request. Pre terminated cables install in minutes compared to hours for field termination, with no specialist polishing equipment required on site.
