About Datwyler Fiber Patch Cords

Datwyler fiber optic patch cords cover singlemode G.652.D BLO bend loss optimized and multimode OM4 and OM5 fiber types. Available in LC duplex, SC duplex, LC simplex, and LC quad formats with PC, UPC, or APC polishes depending on the application requirements.

Singlemode vs Multimode

Use OM4 or OM5 multimode patch cords for short reach data center applications up to about 550 meters at 10G, or 150 meters at 40G and 100G with parallel optics. Use G.652.D BLO singlemode for longer distances, between rooms, or for any deployment where future bandwidth growth is expected beyond 100G.

Polish Types

APC (Angled Physical Contact) polishes are required for video applications and high power optical signals because they reduce back reflections to below 60 dB.

UPC (Ultra Physical Contact) is the standard for data and telecom use. Never mix APC and UPC connectors at the same mating point because the angled and flat geometry will not seat correctly and will damage the ferrule.
